I started my career in Castrol Australia and I saw many changes through several energy shocks in the late 70’s and recessions “we had to have” in the 80’s. This included the oil industry retail upheavals with changes like the overnight shift of petrol stations from full driveway service to self-serve.
For many, their experience of such upheavals sometimes unfortunately become baggage. To thrive instead of just survive, it is far more important to use the experiences to hone your learning abilities so you can adapt and benefit, rather than become the road kill of economic change.
